Objective of the Meeting
The intricate world within the cell, governed by the dynamic interplay of its organelles and membrane systems, is vital to our understanding of human health and disease. Processes like intracellular trafficking, organelle communication, and signal transduction are the mechanistic underpinnings of pathologies from cancer to neurodegeneration. Consequently, research in this area is critical not only for understanding disease mechanisms but also for developing novel therapeutic strategies and advancing applied fields such as cellular engineering and regenerative medicine.
In India, a dynamic and growing community of cell biologists, biophysicists, chemical biologists and theoretical biologists are dedicated to studying the cell membrane, organelles, their modulation via associated proteins including the cytoskeleton and it’s origins. The need for a dedicated forum to unite this interdisciplinary group has never been greater. The first two chapters of the Organelle Biology and Membrane Trafficking Meeting (OBMT) in 2023 and 2024 at NBRC, New Delhi and IISER Pune, respectively, turned out to be a great success, demonstrating the strong demand and collaborative spirit within the community. Building on this momentum and continuing the spirit of the past meetings, we are now preparing for the next OBMT meeting, scheduled for March 2026 in Puri, organized by NISER, Bhubaneshwar.
This meeting is designed to bring together scientists from diverse disciplines to foster interaction, exchange ideas, and explore collaborative opportunities. By creating a focused environment for cross-disciplinary dialogue, the OBMT 2026 meeting aims to catalyze innovative research and address key challenges in the field of Organelle Biology and Membrane Trafficking.
