OBMEA Scholarship Purpose: To provide scholarship funds for Marketing, Business, and Finance Education students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership skills, participation in extracurricular/co-curricular activities, and community involvement.
Requirements: A completed application form signed by the applicant and verified by the student’s instructor must be submitted. The instructor must submit proof of current paid OBMEA membership at the time of submission. Any discretion will be at the OBMEA board. In addition, each entry must include the following information:
Section I: Scholastic Standing
Complete high school transcript including ACT/SAT scores (if available) and other valuable scholastic information (not to exceed 1 page)—minimum cumulative GPA 2.5.
Section II: Extracurricular/Co-Curricular Activities
Description of involvement, awards, and leadership roles.. (not to exceed one [1] page).
Section III: Community Involvement
Explanation of the applicant’s additional contributions to the community (not to exceed one [1] page).
Section IV: Open Ohio Essay
A different topic is to be selected yearly. The 2025 Open Ohio Essay is: “How do you plan to use your business education to make a positive impact on your community?" (Not to exceed one [1] page).
Appendix: Letter of Recommendation
Letter of recommendation from OBMEA Member/Instructor (Maximum 1 page)
Judging: All required written documentation submitted by each applicant will be reviewed by a screening committee made up of college employees.
Awards: The scholarship amounts will be determined yearly.
