Are we not able to import obj files into sketchup? I sware that I have done it in the past. But I might be wrong. Can anyone inform me of what is going On? If not is there a way with a simple extension?

I made this importer based to the official Sketchup API/SDK, This makes it work really well as file format compatibility is great as you would expect. This is also the greatest weakness in that this is incompatible with the GPL.

The new import feature within a Studio subscription allows you to accurately and efficiently convert your Revit models into SketchUp geometry for deeper collaboration across project phases, teams, and stakeholders. Various workarounds exist to export Revit models to SketchUp, but this new importer saves the most time, is more accurate in geometry conversion, and leads to much lighter models.

This plug-in no doubt can import sketchup model to CAD. But when the model is called in into the CAD software, the model scale is messed-up. So basically you can't do anything on the model except you have to re-draw again. But, I found in the sketchup software, you can actually to EXPORT the sketchup model into CAD model and the scale is still same from the original model.

There is an even better solution to this problem. First you need a TIN... which you already have or you wouldn't be here. Next you need to convert that TIN to a multipatch by using the Interpolate Polygon to Multipatch Tool. This tool takes any 2D polygon and 'drapes' it over a TIN surface to make a 3D multipatch of the polygon. If you want to convert the entire TIN, you'll need a polygon that covers the entire TIN. Once you have your multipatch, all you need to do is convert it to a Collada file, using the Multipatch to Collada tool. Once that is done, simply import your Collada file into sketchup and bingo... you're off to the races.

The Importer interface lets you build your own importers for SketchUp. To use this, you create a subclass of Importer and implement all of the methods described below. This will make your importer appear in the list that users see under File > Import, and you can use Ruby to do all of the work of opening the file and creating whatever you need inside SketchUp.

This method is called by SketchUp to determine a single file extension is associated with your importer. Only files that match this extension will be shown to the user as they browse their harddrive for things to import.

I have tried to do it manually with extracting the position, target and lens from sketchup and inserting them into the -ViewportProperties command. But the camera does not translate to the same view in Rhino. I tried setting the aspect ratio to the same as in Sketchup, but nothing really happened.

I have been working with sketchup for years now now and the benefits (speed / visuals) of 3D modelling and materials in sketchup are still important for us, at least until Shape can add customizable material maps (material management as of now is very basic).

I therefore have been trying to test a reliable import process from sketchup to Bricscad.

Same problem Here... Still looking for a solution. I could just import sketchup models into Archicad and keep as they where imported, but every time I export to Lumion the textures are renamed and they lose ther settings.

Included in the SketchUp C API is the SketchUp Importer/Exporter Interface. This allows you to create native SketchUp importer and exporter modules that are available directly within SketchUp as an import or export option.

Because the Cycles renderer is not available on my graphics card, I was getting errors when the addon attempted to load geometries and materials, so I manually edited /sketchup_importer/__init__.py to change all references from "CYCLES" to "BLENDER_EEVEE".

ModelurOSM is the latest OpenStreetMap data importer from the company that created Modelur. This standalone plugin gives full functionality of importing OSM data into your projects. With the click of a button, you can instantly generate a context for your urban design models. No more exporting and importing for each project.

Hello guys, hope someone can help me in my journey to learn unreal. I'm an architect. Currently I have a client that is looking for extreme realism in my renders. I use vray but that doesn't fulfill the expectations. So I turned to give it a look to Unreal and seems to be what I'm looking for. I watched a couple of tutorials but right at the beggining I've got this issue, i model in sketchup, the current project i'm woking on is already finished there. When i try to export it to UE it just seems to exploit and everything is mixed up altogether (it doesn`t appear as i modeled it in SKP). Worth to mention i used the plugin to do so. Thank you in advance.

For me has worked better to use the version 1.5 of open studio plug-in together with sketchup. The older version 1.4 has a bug that does not calculate floor space areas, only roof areas. This bug has been fixed with version 1.5.

For some reason when I import a datasmith model from sketchup with 'keep hierarchy' turned on in the import settings, the facade elements are all over the place and look as though their orientation is messed up. The issue is shown in the attached image. I have already teted other options and this problem does NOT occur when I have 'collapse by material' turned on... Please help! be457b7860
