Working together to protect the public access to the Cumberland River and its Tributaries
Preserving Public Access to all Rivers in Tennessee
The Obey River is a 47.8-mile-long tributary of the Cumberland River, flowing through northern Tennessee and joining the Cumberland near the town of Celina. The river is a popular destination for fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and camping, especially near the Dale Hollow Campground, where a stream from the hatchery feeds directly into the Obey, making it one of Tennessee’s most heavily fished streams.
The surrounding Obey Watershed spans approximately 947 square miles and remains largely forested and rural. The watershed contains 81 miles of streams listed on the Nationwide Rivers Inventory for their scenic and recreational value. The Obey River’s blend of ecological importance, recreational appeal, and conservation potential makes it a treasured resource for both local communities and future generations.
Let's Keep the Cumberland River and all its tributaries safe and accesssible for the use of current residents and future generations of Tennesseeans!
