About the Pottery Co-op

The Oberlin Pottery Coop is a member-run pottery studio in Oberlin, Ohio. Participating students and community members complete service hours to contribute to the studio in exchange for use of the space 24/7 with unlimited access to materials and kiln firings. The pottery co-op exists to build a creative community beyond the classroom at Oberlin. 

Co-op culture is important because it allows all members to partake in a reimagining of the the way we work together to build the environment we create in. Sharing labor among many people allows for responsibility to be diffused and keeps the space accessible! 

Our facilities include eight wheels (electric and kick), tables for hand-building, slab roller, tools, cone 10 and cone 6 clays, a variety of cone 10 and 6 glazes, a small electric kiln, a large manual gas kiln, and more.

We fire our cone 10 gas kiln once or twice per semester...

We offer ExCos and informal workshops on various ceramics processes...
