Hello, my name is SunHee Oberfoell.
Hello, my name is SunHee Oberfoell.
I was born in Chinhae in South Korea, where I grew up. I graduated from Daegu Catholic University where I studied sculpture and art. Throughout my entire education, from childhood to adulthood, I was also trained as an artist. After schools, I was an art teacher in international schools and university preparatory schools in South Korea. After my time there, I moved to America, where I have been living since 2003. I entered art education at the University of Iowa and I’m currently an art teacher in a public school in Iowa. I have 29 years of experience in teaching art, ranging from K-to-12 graders and adults.
In my art class, students will learn various art skills: drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed-media, college, paper mache, ceramic and wire sculpture. I provide unique learning opportunities and technical tools to help students learn step-by-step from beginning to advanced skills. My teaching philosophy is, any students who can see and imagine with persistence, I say: " You can be an artist!" While enjoyment of art is important, I want to foster artistic skill and technique among my students, giving them a base for their own creative works.
