The Omaha Alumnae Panhellenic Association was formed during the 1930s as the Omaha City Panhellenic Association and joined the National Panhellenic Conference in 1952. Our current name was officially adopted in 1974.
National Panhellenic Conference is made up of 26 national and international sororities charged with advancing the sorority experience. NPC groups are represented on more than 665 college and university campuses in the United States and Canada and in over 3,450 alumnae organizations worldwide.
The National Panhellenic Conference Centennial Endowment Fund was established to provide on-going support for programs which encourage sorority women to strive academically and develop leadership skills. In 2002, the Omaha Alumnae Panhellenic Association became a charter member of this endowment with a donation of $1000. Today, the NPC Centennial Scholarship Program advocates to make the cost of higher education more affordable to more women.
In the spring, OAPA hosts a Gathering of Greeks celebration and annual meeting with our alumnae and collegiate members. We award more than $3,000 in scholarships to sorority women who attend Nebraska colleges and universities. We also honor outstanding alumnae from our member organizations as Women of Distinction.
In addition to offering scholarships and recognition awards, Omaha Alumnae Panhellenic Association (OAPA) shares information about trends in Greek life, directs potential new members to campus resources, and encourages involvement in community and alumnae group events. OAPA helps support local NPC members academically, in leadership, and with programming assistance as needed. An Alumnae Panhellenic Association is a community-based organization. We exist to:
Promote inter-sorority friendship and cooperation.
Publicize the high ideals, purpose and accomplishments of the sorority community.
Stimulate interest and participation of alumnae members in NPC sororities.
Advance interest in community service and philanthropic efforts.
Provide qualified students with financial assistance through scholarships.

OAPA was formed during the 1930s as the Omaha City Panhellenic Association. OCPA joined the National Panhellenic Conference in 1952, and changed its name in the mid-1970s. OAPA includes alumnae representatives from most of the National Panhellenic Conference sororities.
In 2002, OAPA became a charter member of the NPC Centennial Endowment Fund, to provide ongoing support for programs which encourage sorority women to strive academically, to develop leadership capabilities, and to develop the skills necessary to address risk management issues. Our $1000 donation continues to help fund these programs.
Today, OAPA delegates enjoy the social interaction and accomplishment our programs provide the Omaha area. Delegates take information back to their alumnae chapters and associations, which helps further the Panhellenic spirit.
If your NPC sorority does not currently have a delegate, please contact us and attend a meeting. We invite you to join us!
