Join a park interpreter for a 0.5-mile hike through the Arkansas Arboretum trail for an "Oaktober" celebration! Learn more about some of the different kinds of oak trees on the trail and how they support wildlife and you at the park! Bring water and sturdy shoes for this easy hike along the ADA-accessible trail. Stick around after the hike for a short oak tree craft!

We're excited to join the Central Arkansas Master Naturalists and other tree enthusiasts around the country in celebrating the mighty oak! Did you know? There are 30 native species of oaks in Arkansas and their acorns feed over 100 different wildlife species. How cool is that?
At our Oaktober Story Time, we'll learn more fascinating facts with fun and informative books about oak trees and acorns. We'll make a cute acorn craft. And, as always, we'll sing songs, play games, and enjoy a yummy, themed snack. It'll be oaksome… you better be-leaf it!

Description: Join us for a short walk to Ottenheimer park. Round trip should be less than 60 minutes. We will meet in the lobby of the Dee Brown library starting at 10am. We will leave promptly at 10:20am. Along the way, we will notice oak trees and discuss facts about them.
Please bring a refillable water bottle, and anything else you may need to be comfortable walking outdoors, such as a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.

Description: This is a self guided outdoor watercolor class. We will provide you with everything you need to complete your own watercolor painting including paint, portable easel, and stool. No formal instruction will be provided, but each participant will draw a random prompt to ignite their imagination - all about Oak trees! An instructor will be on hand for advice.
Limited to 10 participants, first come first serve. Please bring a refillable water bottle, and anything else you may need to be comfortable outdoors, such as a hat, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.

Description: Come and learn hands-on invasive plant identification with CAMN Arkansas Wild Spaces guides and learn to use the tools from the tool library collection to clean up your own yard for Oaktober!
We will work on the Southwest Park Trail (near the library and Southwest Community Center) to identify and remove a few common invasive plants and demonstrate the proper us of a 'pullerbear', a root slayer, and a weeding shovel. This event will also teach participants about Little Rock's Parks and Recreations program Pushy Plants. Please wear closed toed shoes and bring a water bottle.
