My name is Joshua Pflueger! I am a student at Texas Christian Unviersity studying to gain a BS in communication and a minor in general business. Growing up I knew had a passion for the outdoors because of the times I have charished while out hunting and fishing with my dad. Through my experiences participating in these hunts on the ranches around Texas I have realized that there are many things that could changed to create a much more handicap friendly for disabled hunters can fully enjoy the ranches without worry about not having adequate accommodations.
I have a disease called duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness due to the alterations of a protein called dystrophin that helps keep muscle cells intact. As of the last few years the life expectancy has risen from the age of 18 years to as old as 27 years of age. There have been lots of research and many experimental trials to try and create a cure for the disease, but as of right now there is still no cure for DMD.
In the future I want to be able to buy acreage in the Central Texas region where the Hill Country creates the best environment for whitetail deer and spiecies in the Lone Star State. I want build the ultimate hunting ranch that has everything completely set up for handicap outdoorsmen to come to ranch to learn about conservation and hunt the different spiecies of animals on the property. Many organizations Buckmasters Brownwood Chapter, Disabled Outdoorsmen, and Camo Drams call upon these owners to host disabled people and wounded veterans on their ranches. I plan on doing the same on the OA Ranch!
