The Championship Café will be operating from the Whitehaven Room throughout the competition, offering a range of food and refreshments for competitors, families, officials, and spectators.
Thursday to Saturday: 8.00am – 4.00pm
Sunday: 8.00am – 12.15pm
A variety of options will be available, including:
Home-baked goods
Hot food
Cold food
Snacks and refreshments
Evening meals will be available on Friday and Saturday evenings from 5.00pm – 7.00pm.
Meal order forms will be released in the coming days, with further details on menu options and ordering procedures.
The bar will be open daily from 4.00pm – 6.00pm.
We encourage everyone attending the Championships to support the café and enjoy the food and hospitality available throughout the event.
We’re pleased to welcome professional photography and videography services at this year’s National Championships. With over five years’ experience covering dance competitions, photography services will be available across all dance levels throughout the event.
Videography services will also be offered for selected events. Due to the nature of Highland dancing performances, video coverage will primarily focus on Senior events where dancers compete individually on stage.

Whitehaven Theatre has two Pay by Plate Public Car Parks that are within its immediate vicinity.
Whitehaven Theatre Carpark (including Russell Terrace):
Pay by Plate - $1.50/hr or $6.00/day. All-day parking
Alfred Street Parking Building -
Pay by Plate, $1.50/hr or $6.00/day. All-day parking
Monday to Friday: All parks - payment required 9.00 am - 5.00 pm; (free outside these hours)
Saturday: On-street/kerbside - payment required 9.30 am - 1.00 pm; off-street (including Alfred Street car park building) free all day.
Sunday and Public Holidays: Free
There are also on-street free parking locations around the Theatre that have time restrictions.
Juniors: The registration desk will be open from 4-5pm on Wednesday 8th July, and from 7.15 am on Thursday 9th July in the Whitehaven Theatre Foyer. All competitors must have a current P & D membership registration.
Seniors: The registration desk will be open throughout the junior events – all dancers entered in New Zealand Championship classes are required to collect their registration packs prior to the Opening Ceremony on Friday, 11th July. All competitors must have a current P & D membership registration.
The opening ceremony will be held at approximately 12.30pm on Friday 10th July. All 18 years and Over, Under 18 Years and Under 16 Years dancers are required to meet in the Anderson Theatre at 12pm wearing kilts and pumps. A warm invitation to the opening ceremony is extended to all competitors and supporters.
There will be a designated practice/warm-up area in the Anderson Theatre, so please do not warm up or practice in the foyer or Whitehaven Room.
Competitor dressing rooms are conveniently located downstairs at the Whitehaven Theatre. These spaces will be available throughout the event for changing and preparing between performances. Clear signage and event volunteers will be on hand to help direct competitors and supporters as needed.
All Senior dancers are invited to come to the Whitehaven Theatre between 6.30-7.30pm (following the completion of the junior events) on Thursday 9th July to familiarise yourselves with the venue. You are also welcome to bring your jig shoes to try them on the stage at this time – please be considerate and allow everyone who wishes the opportunity to do this.
Any pre-ordered hard copies of the programme and any extra programmes ordered will be in your registration packs.
There will be a limited supply of programmes available for purchase during the weekend.
