Sakeef Kibria is a rising senior at the Bronx High School of Science. This summer, he pursued the NYU ARISE summer program, where he was able to work with members from the C2SMART and UrbanMITS Lab. Sakeef was able to work with multiple programming languages such as Jupyter, SQL, and Anaconda. Sakeef, along with his partner Sardor Rahmatulloev studied the impact COVID-19 has had on New York City's bike sharing system. with the help of their mentor, Suzana Duran Bernardes.
Outside of his lab work, Sakeef loves to participate in Model United Nations conferences, help judge debate tournaments, draw and read in his free time, and play basketball with his friends. Sakeef hopes to pursue Architecture in college and explore elements of design whether that be in buildings or fashion. He has always been interested in design and has been influenced by designers like Kim Jones and architects like Ben van Berkel. Finally, Sakeef is also working on a Social Science research paper with his mentor Dr. Scott Savaiano where he hopes to research the impact social media has had on voter efficacy. He will submit this project to the Regeneron Science Talent Search Program.
