Following the January 6th insurrection, NYSRSAS created Citizenship Awards to reinforce the values of good citizenship and democratic government. Awards are given to 11th grade students from selected Long Island high schools nominated by their principals with input from teachers and guidance counselors based on their demonstration of civic participation and efforts that reflect concern for their school, community, and fellow students. Awardees receive a certificate and a check for $100.
