Regular attendance is required and expected. Regardless of where you are located when you attend class, you are required to log into the Zoom class via the course on Blackboard. The NYLS Attendance Policy remains in effect and the full details can be found in the NYLS Student Handbook on the portal.
In lieu of hard copy sign-in sheets, attendance will be taken through Blackboard. NYLS has engaged Qwickly as the software plug-in for attendance through Blackboard. At the start of each class meeting, upon entering the course on Blackboard, you will need to scroll down the left control bar to find "Attendance" and select that option. From there, you will be promoted to "Check in" for attendance. Consider this as the digital equivalent to the hard copy attendance sheet. This attendance check-in will be open for the first 10 minutes of our synchronous/live classes. Be sure to hit the "Submit" button at the bottom to ensure your "Check In" is recorded by the system. If you “arrive” to class before the instructor, you can click back to Blackboard once the instructor “arrives” to do the attendance check-in. It is your responsibility to do the check-in at the start of each class. If you have an issue logging into Blackboard, please email the instructor to alert them. The Check in system will automatically mark you as “absent” if the time window for the Check in expires before you affirmatively Check in.
If needed, this simple YouTube video demonstrates how to use the system. Please note that the video starts with instructions for the faculty to set up the system and the student portion begins 1 minute and 47 seconds into the video.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNZfbEoyc5k
