Professor Maria D. Kennedy, Chair of Water Supply Engineering Group, IHE Delft Institute of Water Education, presented a seminar on "Assessing Biofouling Potential through Seawater Reverse Osmosis Pre-treatment" to the Institute of Environmental Engineering on 6th December 2024. After the seminar, the delegation visited TSMC Research Center and our Disaster Prevention and Water Environment Research Center at Boai Campus.

Prof. Chan visited the Geo-Imaging and Geo-Nerve Laboratory
Professor Lung S. Chan of the Department of Earth and Planetary Science of the University of California, Berkeley, visited us from 1st December 2024 to 5th December 2024. Professor Chan is a geophysicist by training. We explored the possibilities of using permittivity in healthcare management and the formation process of a new mineral and geologic structure.
Ms. Joanne Kwan of CIRIA (Construction Industry Research and Information Association) of the United Kingdom gave a one-day seminar "Risk Assessment and Management of PFAS (Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances) in Soil and Water" on 29th November 2024. The seminar was well attended by researchers and practitioners interested in PFAS all over Taiwan.

Professors Norbert J. Delatte and Jaime C. Schussler of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, Oklahoma State University of the U.S. visited us on 26th November 2024. They expressed interest in collaborating with our Department of Civil Engineering and Institute of Environmental Engineering. We are organizing an online mini-conference for faculties interested in environmental engineering research in early January 2025 to develop a better understanding of the research areas of each other. Similar mini-conferences in other different disciplines of civil engineering will be conducted later.
Professors Norbert J. Delatte and Jaime C. Schussler of the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology, Oklahoma State University of the U.S. visited us on 26th November 2024. They expressed interest in collaborating with our Department of Civil Engineering and Institute of Environmental Engineering. We are organizing an online mini-conference for faculties interested in environmental engineering research in early January 2025 to develop a better understanding of the research areas of each other. Ir Prof. Albert T. Yeung of the Institute of Environmental Engineering and Prof. Tze-Kang Lin of the Department of Civil Engineering attended the 47th Executive Committee Meeting of the Asian Civil Engineering Coordinating Council (ACECC) on 22nd October 2024 in Wellington, New Zealand, as delegates of the Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering. The Year 2024 also marks the 25th anniversary of ACECC. Engineering New Zealand presented memorial certificates to ACECC and the five founding members. From left to right: Prof. Jae-Woo Park and Dr. Udai Singh of ACECC, Prof. Eiki Yamaguchi of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Prof. Yu-Chi Sung of CICHE, Ms. April J. Lander of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Ms. April Flores of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, and Dr. Moonkyung Chung of the Korean Society of Civil Engineers.
