MEET THE EXECUTIVE BOARD
ADNAN BHUIYAN:
Hey everyone! My name is Adnan and I help run the medical club at The Brooklyn Latin School. Aniqa and I started the forum to help give free opportunities to students that don’t really have access to them or to give them the opportunity to explore the medical field. I’m very passionate about medicine and health of all kinds, especially now since we’re in a pandemic. I love to see how engaged and intrigued students were when partaking in the medical forum, and it feels good to know that us at the Executive Board feel great for being able to provide such an opportunity
ANIQA NAYIM
Hello! My name is Aniqa and I am the president of my Pre Medical Club at Bard Manhattan. I am interested in medicine, science, health care, public health, and current events. Especially, during this pandemic, I became very interested in the medical field. Adnan and I started this forum to bring more medical-related opportunities to students who don’t have the opportunity to expand their knowledge in the medical field. It is evident that while capitalism dominates our society, our youth will never have the same resources. My participation on this team has given me the opportunity to express my passion for medicine with my peers while also assisting others, including those from underserved schools, in gaining more knowledge and awareness of the medical field. Our last forum went very successfully and I hope that we can continue helping others.
MAHJABIN CHOUDHURY
Hi everyone! My name is Mahjabin Choudhury and I’m a junior at Academy of American Studies. I am interested in the medical field and in public health. I joined the forum because I wanted to meet other high schoolers who are just as passionate in learning about the healthcare field and wanted to expand resources to other schools who do not have access to these stem meetings. At the medical forum, we have created accessible resources for everyone from meeting healthcare workers and learning about their journey and hosting student led workshops for college and career readiness. I hope you find the medical forum useful as you navigate through your own path in medicine!
DEVEN ROZARIO
Hi! My name is Deven, and I’m an executive of the OV- STEM organization and am interested in business and medicine/public health. I joined the forum because I wanted to help New York City high school students gain exposure to unique opportunities. Many of the high schools in New York City are underprivileged and humanities-based, limiting access to opportunities dealing with the medical field, which is even harder now because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This medical forum would allow students to learn more about the medical field and different health professions. This has allowed me to engage with like-minded people, achieve the same goals, and make an impact on a larger community.
EDGERRIN HARRY
Hello, I'm one of the vice presidents at the Brooklyn Latin School’s medical club and part of the executive board of the Medical Forum. I help bring awareness to our project by creating and sharing information about our group and our goals. I initially joined this group and my school’s own medical club because like my peers, believe that students should have more exposure to careers(particularly in the medical fields) they are interested in. I saw this as an opportunity to bring this exposure to other students within the city, especially those who may not even know what they want to do later in life.
CHRISTINA CHAN
Hey everyone! My name is Christina Chan, the founder of the Brooklyn Latin Medical Club. My passion for medicine begins to grow amid the COVID-19 pandemic because it showed me the importance of being well-informed on public health events. I wanted to be a part of this organization because I know that there are students, just like myself, who are passionate about the medicine and healthcare industry. By hosting webinars with various medical professionals and walking through workshops on current medicine-related topics, this forum would benefit those interested in medicine while providing educational opportunities for students from under-resourced schools.
SUMON AHASAN
Hey, my name is Sumon and I attend Brooklyn Latin High School. I am not particularly into the medical field but I know that there are many bright students out there in the city who are. Many of these students do not have the opportunity to diverge themselves in this field, hence, me and the rest of the forum wish to provide students from around the city with this opportunity so their futures will be bright. With my interest and skills in technology, I will help this medical forum by being in charge of the website and social media pages to provide information through technology to students who are aware. With our generation moving and leaning towards technology, the best way to reach and interact with this generation as a whole is through social media. With COVID-19 being a part of our lives, most NYC schools have made this next step of learning through online interactions. Therefore, we wish to be up to date and provide students with opportunities through this new online generation of interaction.
MICHAEL LIU
Hello, my name is Michael Liu and I am a senior at the Brooklyn Latin School. I joined the forum to help promote the opportunities presented by NYC Medical Forum. Many kids such as myself have always been interested in the field of medicine but never had a chance to get to talk and listen to what people in the field have to say. Therefore, I wanted to help make our resources more accessible to kids who may otherwise not have the chance. By giving kids an opportunity to involve themselves in the field of medicine, I feel like we are really making a difference. I’m very grateful to be on the team but I am also grateful for the opportunity to get to join forums led by other members to expose myself to other fields of medicine and connect with others passionate about medicine.
