Welcome to National! I’m so excited to have you join our family.
There’s a lot to learn in these first few weeks, but I wanted to take a minute to start with the heart of the matter — our company core values. You might hear them called the 4 “C’s” but all that means is we are talking about our culture, competency, character, and customer service. At NWS, these values guide everything we do: yes take responsibility for your job, be good at it, be quick, don’t hurry--- all of those things are significant. However, we do not view ourselves as merely employees, co-workers, and bosses (we don’t even have titles for things). We view ourselves as a family; we are a group of people who deeply care for one another, who work hard upholding the highest standards of honesty and integrity.
Striving to be a strong and healthy family has a tremendous influence on our culture. Every employee is expected to think and act like an owner. That means you are responsible for the way you act, serve, and take care of yourself and others. We did not hire you because you are a “strategic fit,” we hired you because we believe you are a person of character, you are competent, you are a good chemistry fit and because we believe you are going to help preserve and improve our culture.
We care about the well being of our people and I want you to know we care about you and your needs. I look forward to meeting you and I look forward to seeing you grow and develop into an outstanding employee that exhibits a high level of care, concern, and compassion for others. I hope that you will find your work to be rewarding, challenging, and meaningful, as we will do our best to help shape your professional growth and experience, too.
You should have been given your employee handbook. The training that follows is our best attempt to document who we are, and more importantly, why we do it. We believe this training will help you survive and thrive here at National.
Let’s hit the ground running! Welcome to the family!
