Call for Abstracts

What are we looking for?

Participants are invited to submit a 2-page extended abstract (or max. 800 words) outlining their experience with novel education approaches, typically supported by using digital tools and technology and their motivation for attending the workshop (outlining their expected learnings).

Topics of interest

• modern education approaches, pedagogical strategies, tools, and technologies (e.g., AR/VR/XR, digital twins, simulated environments, gamification etc.)

• sustainable learning, teaching, and knowledge assessment experience

• novel practices in the information systems education

• integration of modern IT-supported teaching concepts, focussing on ...

  • • specialized AI tools (e.g., AI tutoring, AI grading, AI student profiling etc.)

    • XR elements (i.e., the use of virtual, augmented or extended reality settings)

    • simulations (e.g., digital twins or factories, business processes etc.)

• the use of technology-rich learning spaces (e.g., Future Classroom Labs)

• the use of AI for creating personalized learning experiences (e.g., personalized tasks matching students’ interests, formative feedback etc.)

Submissions

Extended abstracts should not be longer than 2 pages (or max. 800 words) and must use the ECIS 2023 conference proceedings template (MS Word or LaTeX). Respective .pdf files should be submitted through EasyChair: https://easychair.org/my/conference?conf=nwised2023 

Important Dates

Review Process

We will use a juried reviewing process in which the workshop’s program committee will review all submissions and decide on their acceptance based on the abstracts’ topic fit and authors’ motivation for attending this workshop (at least 2 reviews per submission).

Optional Post-Workshop Publication

We will invite participants to extend their abstracts (which may be available on the workshop website but not be published in any other form) into a respective research paper to be submitted to a Special Issue on the design of and interaction with modern education technologies in the MDPI Mutlimodal Technologies and Interaction Open Access Journal. The respective deadline for such submissions is August 10th 2023. Submitted papers will undergo peer review and if accepted, workshop participants will receive a 50% discount on the publication processing fee.
