Please sign up for the experience and register if required. If pre-registration is required, the registration link will provided for you in the detail section.

Gender Affirming care 

We have an experience available that will help you reach your required experiential hours. It is a great one because half of it can be done on your own time. There will be an early morning debriefs three other AHEC regions. You can get up to 4 hours. This is a paid experience, AHEC will cover the cost, so if you would like to participate you must commit to completing the 4 hour experience. Contact Monique McAlister to get signed up.

Part 1:  Independent Work (2 hours)

 

·                      Complete the simulated encounter twice:

- First, select only decisions you believe will alienate and anger the virtual human

- Second, use the conversation strategies presented to have an effective conversation.

-     How did the patient respond when you used a directive approach?

-     How did the patient respond when you used patient-centered motivational interviewing (MI) techniques?

-     What MI techniques did you find the most useful?  Why?

-     What goals did your patients agree to, and what positive outcomes did they have as a result?

-     Which patient do you think you did the best job collaborating with?  Why?

-     How might you change your own practice based on your experience with the simulation?

Policy, Systems and Environmental Change

*Required Experiential for yr 1 scholars

Learn about how to develop a community engagement project. This webinar and activity is required for all year 1 scholars. This presentation & activity will be a tremendous help when we start to focus on capstone projects in year 2. 

Here is what to do:

Helping hands: 3 PArt Experience (EXTENDED)

3 Part Experience: 

Part 1: Identify three food or shelter resources in an underserved community (rural/urban).  ex: a local food pantry, a soup kitchen, homeless shelter. (Bonus: Create an info. graphic for your 3 identified resources to be share with your peers during the Zoom call and receive an extra 30 mins. toward the activity) 

Part 2: Sign up to volunteer at any food pantry, soup kitchen, homeless shelter,  or toys for tots organization or event. After you volunteer, complete an experiential submission form (add the 3 resources you identified from part 1 and email me the info. graphic). 

Part 3: Join a  Zoom debrief to discuss your experiences and learn from other scholars. Two dates to choose from:

Join an echo program

Hosted by iu richard m. fairbanks school of public health

Each ECHO program includes regularly scheduled teleclinics consisting of collaborative case-based learning and brief, informative didactics. ECHO program schedules are listed below.

ECHO teleclinics meet online using a freely available, web-based videoconferencing platform called Zoom. To participate, you only need to have access to the Internet. A webcam is strongly encouraged but not absolutely required.

Mommy's Haven provides shelter, food, clothing, and a supportive community. In addition to our services, we connect moms to appropriate agencies and resources. In doing so, we support mom & baby in both short and long-term goals! Services include:

If you volunteer at a COVID Vaccine site, you can submit your volunteer hours for credit toward your experiential hours. Here is what to do:
