Two layers of fleece cut into a wing design, layered and feathers sewn in with thread. Because I am always cold now.
I am probably going to use this design as a jumping off point to create winged master hoods, with more feathers in the back and a hood added. Probably paint the feathers next time.

Materials- 14x11 stretched canvas. Spray paint (background and rat and moon body) and acrylics (subjects). Various brushes and my thumb.
Method- Background was spray-painted for even coverage. Stars flicked off a brush. I freehand drew a rat, traced it onto a sheet of plastic and razor-cut out a templet (also for future use). I spray painted the rough rat and moon onto the canvas and used acrylics to add all detailing. For the moon craters, I painted on my thumb, then pressed the paint to the canvas, with a quick flash of spray paint to brighten it.
Additional info- This is a project I've been wanting to do toward developing a heraldic device. The result has caused me to rethink the background and will result in some changes.

This is a gift for my best friend’s son who also likes RP and Amtgard for his birthday upcoming. He is very into dragons lately, and he is also becoming (according to Western tradition) officially a teenager. I wanted to give him something that reflected his growth and strength by using the dragon. In addition, I have been teaching him art lessons, and the rune of “Gebo” means “Gift” but also represents “Talent.” I’m big into puns so the fact that it is a gift is part of that. ^_^ But, overall, I wanted something that looks nice, but also has meaning on even a spiritual level, as I often share my esoteric Pagan belief with him when he asks questions. Finally, I’ve never done a mosaic style project, so I wanted to try it for the Crunchtime Tourney, but I also wanted to play with stones because he’s been collecting stones like this since he was little tiny. Most of the stones are power and strength representations as Pagan tools (as reds and oranges like Jasper.)
Materials/Tools used: Digital reference and hand-made (by entrant) digital art on drawing tablet monitor, premade wooden chip and dip dish, printer, sticker paper, sticky lamination sheet, handheld small scraper, scissors, hot glue, stones of varying sizes, Modge-Podge, sponge brush, wood burner, pliers, hammer, sawtooth hanger.
How it was made: I looked at some references of dragon silhouettes, tribal art, and clipart. I then drew my own on my drawing monitor, starting with black so that I could see the image clearly, then I changed it to orange as a color of power and so that it would contrast the wood. I printed it on sticker paper, then cut it out. Next, I stuck that on a self-laminating sheet, cut that out as well, wider, and then stuck both on the wood. In essence, I created the equivalent of a vinyl sticker, and it’s a good, solid color and faster than paint. I did the same for the rune. Then I sorted the stones and laid them out over the stickers. Hot glue fixed the stones in place, and in order to get the stones and stickers more secure, particularly the small stones, I dabbed on Modge Podge. Then I burned a few decorative stamps, as well as putting my signature on the back. In addition, I hammered in the sawtooth.
Notes: This was originally a chip/dip bowl combination dish, but I thought it would be cool as wall art. I like the idea that the indentation shows he could be reaching inside himself to what’s underneath. He could also use this to display some of his tiny big kid items or other stones of his own and keep them from his toddler brother. ^_^
I started this pair of wrap pants Friday night at 7:00 pm. They are half paneled with one leg being yellow, the other being purple. There are two black chevrons on each leg. The seam on the outer side of the leg are French seamed, while the inseam was a single seam, with satin stitching to close the loose end.
The reason for the difference is that I was rushing through trying to get as close to finished as I could in an hour, and made the mistake of not flipping the pants inside out before closing the legs. The ties on the back wrap around the front of the waist and tie together and vise versa with the front. I used double fold extra wide bias tape on the waist band, and double fold quilt binding for the bottom of the legs. I used Heat’n’Bond adhesive webbing to attach the appliquéd chevrons, and a satin stitch on the edges for permanent adhesion.
