SUternia Justice Minister candidate interview

Communaccord: How would you define the basic responsibilities of the Justice minister?

Suternia: The Justice Minister is the government's legal representative and provider of representation for citizens in need. It may provide advice to the Senate/Government, and carry out responsibilities as mandated by law or court order, such as the ban of a citizen if determined by the court. There are other specific resposibilities we have seen in the past through the JM's agencies, but they have often proved useless and must be re-evaluated.

Communaccord: Anything you would do different from the current administration?

Suternia: I don't think there is much to be evaluated from the current Justice Ministry, as it has not needed to act yet. I do praise the incumbent for providing the region with an updated Electoral Registry with special citizenship assignments.

Communaccord: What are your plans for the next six months of the ministry, or put another way, what does a successful term look like to you?

Suternia: The Justice Ministry is about competence and doing what needs to be done, I commit myself to representing the government, as well as providing representation to those in need through Public Defenders. I think the notion of a "bar exam" to work in the JM's public defence should be considered, as historically the process for selecting Public Defenders has not evaluated the legal skills of candidates.

I also support the repeal of L.R. 92. No ministry has the restrictions that the Justice Ministry has set in stone through law. More autonomy is needed rather than pointless bureaucracy.

Communaccord: What would you say makes you well suited to accomplish all these things?

Suternia: I have had experience in the NWA as a Senator and Senate Clerk, as well as in another region as Justice Minister. I believe this qualifies me to exercise the resposibilities in this job.

Communaccord: There have been recent accusations of potential electoral fraud via puppets heading into the election. How do you plan on handling these accusations?

Suternia: The way we should look at this is simple: is the nation a citizen, either in the WA or with a waiver? If yes their vote will be counted, if not then no.

Communaccord: The NWA is perceived by some outsiders as being lax on law and order, particularly in enforcing action against fascism and anti-semitism. What weight do you give these accusations, and what action, if any, would you take?

Suternia: I don't think these accusations have any basis in the modern state of the region.

Communaccord: Anything you would like to tell undecided voters before they make their decision?
Suternia: If your vote is not bound to partisan affiliations, I ask that you vote your conscience for whoever you deem to be the most competent. If you agree with what I have proposed today, consider lending me your vote.
