Fast CAT is a 100-yard dash for dogs! Dogs chase a mechanical lure across the field as fast as they can, while their speed is timed and converted into points. It’s a fun way for dogs and handlers to practice focus, training, and teamwork.
Points & Titles
Dogs earn points for each run based on their speed. Titles are awarded as dogs reach these milestones:
• BCAT – 150 points
• DCAT – 500 points
• FCAT – 1,000 points
• FCAT 1, 2, 3… – Each additional 500 points earned after the first FCAT
How points are calculated:
1. Dogs run 100 yards chasing a mechanical lure.
2. Each run is timed.
3. Points are calculated from the dog’s speed (yards per second × a factor).
4. Points accumulate over multiple runs to reach new titles.
Every run counts! Fast CAT is exciting, rewarding, and a great way for youth to build confidence with their dogs.
