NutriLens is a food tracking app that analyzes food via your camera and stores your nutrition data entirely on your device. This policy explains what data we access, how it is used, and how you can delete it.
NutriLens accesses and stores the following health-related data locally on your device only:
Meal photos — images captured via your camera, used for on-device food recognition. Photos are never uploaded or transmitted.
Nutrition data — calories, macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat, fiber), vitamins, and minerals calculated from your meals.
Health conditions — optional conditions you enter (e.g. diabetes, hypertension) used only to personalise health insights.
Dietary preferences — optional preferences (e.g. vegan, gluten-free) used to tailor food suggestions.
Daily calorie target — your personal calorie goal.
Water intake — daily hydration logs.
Meal history — a log of all meals you have recorded, stored locally for up to 365 entries.
Weight goal — your selected goal (lose, maintain, or gain weight) used for personalised recommendations.
All of the above is stored only on your device in local app storage (SharedPreferences). None of this data is sent to our servers or any third party.
We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information.
We do not use analytics or crash-reporting SDKs that upload personal data.
We do not share data with advertisers.
Food photos are processed on-device using ML Kit (Google's on-device machine learning library). Photos are never uploaded.
Camera — Required to capture food photos for nutritional analysis. Images remain on your device.
Internet — Used only to look up food items in public databases (USDA, Open Food Facts) by name. No personal data is sent in these requests. Barcode lookups use the product barcode only.
Notifications — Optional. Used to send meal reminder alerts at times you configure.
NutriLens offers an optional subscription processed entirely through Google Play. We do not access or store your payment information. All billing is managed by Google Play's billing system under Google's privacy policy.
Retention: All health and meal data is stored locally on your device. Meal history is automatically capped at your 365 most recent entries.
How to delete your data:
To delete individual meals: open the History tab, swipe left on any meal, and tap Delete.
To delete all app data: go to your device Settings → Apps → NutriLens → Storage → Clear Data. This permanently removes all meals, health profile, and preferences.
To delete the app entirely: uninstall NutriLens from your device. All local data is removed automatically upon uninstall.
We do not retain any copies of your data because it is never uploaded.
NutriLens is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
