Hair & Make-Up

Performance Guidelines

Part of the training we provide for young dancers is to help them to understand the expectations of a professional level show. Even at our youngest ages, our dancers learn how to conduct themselves both on stage and off to create the best show experience for everyone. This begins with upholding our show standards and we appreciate your support in this.

Make-Up

All performers are asked to wear stage make-up. We believe every dancer is perfect just as they are and certainly do not need make-up in every day life. However, stage lighting is a whole different story and without stage make-up, dancers will look washed out and featureless on stage. Performers use stage make-up to enhance their own natural features. We ask that all make-up be neutral tones (browns, pinks, etc) and based on the age of the dancer. We suggest that male dancers just use a little bit of bronzer to highlight their features. We ask all female dancers to have a light shadow, blush and lip color. Older dancers can wear more make-up for stage. You can find a quick tutorial for stage make-up below. This make-up brand or colors are not required, this is simply a suggestion for a great stage make-up look.

Hair for Show

Since we have many dancers that are in multiple roles throughout the show, we keep the same hairstyle throughout the Nutcracker Remixed. For male dancers, please be sure their hair is neatly styled and out of their face, we suggest gel or hairspray to help their hair stay in place while dancing. For female dancers, hair needs to be in an ATD bun. Short hair should still be pulled back as close to this style as possible. Please use gel, bobbypins, a hair net and hairspray to ensure they have a clean styled look that will stay in place. Please refer to the tutorial video for the correct style and practice before show day.
