Family Communication & Community Standards

At APAA / GSBC, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, professional, and positive environment for our students, families, faculty, staff, and guests.

We value open communication and understand that questions, concerns, and differences of opinion may arise from time to time. When they do, we ask that families communicate directly with the appropriate staff member and follow our established process for addressing concerns.

If a parent or family member would like to discuss a concern, they should contact the studio or organization to arrange an appropriate time to speak or meet. Concerns should be discussed calmly, privately, and respectfully, and should not take place during classes, rehearsals, performances, events, student arrival or dismissal, or in a manner that disrupts the experience of other students or families.

APAA / GSBC does not permit behavior that creates an unsafe, disruptive, intimidating, or hostile environment. This includes, but is not limited to:

• Yelling, threatening, or confrontational behavior toward faculty, staff, students, volunteers, or other families.

• Entering classes, rehearsals, offices, backstage areas, or other restricted spaces to confront a staff member without prior arrangement.

• Creating a disturbance during classes, rehearsals, performances, events, arrival, or dismissal.

• Refusing to follow established communication procedures when addressing a concern.

• Harassment, intimidation, abusive language, or repeated disrespectful communication.

• Behavior that interferes with our ability to safely and effectively serve our students.

Our priority will always be the well-being of our students and the integrity of the learning and performance environment.

Any family whose behavior seriously violates these expectations will be subject to immediate dismissal from APAA / GSBC programs. Depending upon the nature and severity of the situation, dismissal may occur without additional warning or further meeting.

We recognize that difficult conversations can occur, and respectful disagreement is not a violation of this policy. Families are always welcome to ask questions, express concerns, request clarification, and advocate for their children. We simply require that those conversations take place through the appropriate channels and in a manner that is respectful, constructive, and does not disrupt the studio or organization.

By participating in APAA / GSBC programs, families agree to support these standards and help us maintain an environment in which every student can learn, rehearse, perform, and grow with confidence and respect.
