Research fellow (postdoc) and PhD Student Positions in Plant–Microbe Symbiosis and Nutrient Biology
The Plant Symbiosis Lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS) is recruiting 1 Postdoctoral Researcher and 1-2 PhD students to investigate the molecular mechanisms that regulate biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) under changing environmental conditions in legumes.
Our research focuses on legume–rhizobium symbiosis, with particular interests in how plants regulate nitrogen fixation in response to environmental conditions, including nitrogen availability, temperature, and micronutrient availability. We combine plant genetics, molecular and cell biology, transcriptomics, biochemistry, and structural biology to understand and improve the efficiency and stability of biological nitrogen fixation.
Research areas may include:
Regulation of biological nitrogen fixation and nodule function
Micronutrient homeostasis and allocation in root nodules
Molecular mechanisms underlying environmental regulation of symbiosis
Genetic and biotechnological approaches to improve nutrient-use efficiency and crop performance
Research fellow (postdoc)
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher with a PhD in plant biology, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry or a related discipline. Experience in plant genetics, molecular biology, confocal, transcriptomics, protein biochemistry or plant–microbe interactions is desirable. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop an independent research direction within the broader research programme of the laboratory.
PhD Student
We welcome applications from highly motivated candidates with a strong interest in plant biology, molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology or related fields. Candidates should have a strong academic background, scientific curiosity and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative research environment. Previous research experience is advantageous but not essential.
