Biography

Dr Yun-Ta Wu obtained his PhD degree in January 2015 from Department of Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering, National Cheng-Kung University (NCKU, Taiwan), where he graduated with a BSc in 2008 and received an MSc in 2010. His PhD dissertation was to investigate wave-structure interactions using a Particle Image Velocimetry and a depth- and phase-resolving numerical model.

In 2014, he was funded as a visiting scholar at Texas A&M University, where he strengthened his experimental background through using an image-based velocimetry for flow kinematics and a fiber-optic based technique for fluid density variations due to violent breaking waves.

Since April 2015, Dr. Wu worked at International Wave Dynamics Research Center of NCKU as a postdoc fellow, focusing on experimental modeling in terms of wave run-up on beaches, wave overtopping of coastal structures and gravel transport. Dr. Wu will join NUS from July 2017, working on research projects.
