Pablo Higuera

Pablo Higuera

NUS/University of Auckland

Biography

Dr Pablo Higuera graduated in 2010, obtaining a Civil Engineering degree. He immediately pursued a MSc in Coastal and Port Engineering (2012) and a PhD in Civil/Coastal Engineering (2015), all of them at the University of Cantabria (Spain) and the Environmental Hydraulics Institute IH Cantabria.

His research field is Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) applied to wave processes, hydraulics and environmental flows. During his PhD he developed the numerical model IHFOAM, based on OpenFOAM. Afterwards he had a one-year postdoc at Imperial College London, where he studied flow and rock mechanics within armour layers in breakwaters.

Dr Higuera was a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore. His work involved numerical simulation of coastal and wave-structure interaction processes with olaFlow, the CFD model based on OpenFOAM that he is developing.

Dr Higuera is currently a Lecturer at the University of Auckland and a Senior Research Fellow at NUS.
