Biography

Dr Jie Yang graduated with a bachelor degree of Harbour, Waterway and Coastal Engineering in 2003 at Hohai University. Then she continued the PhD study at Tsinghua University, where she obtained her PhD degree of Hydraulic Engineering in 2010.

Her research field is coastal hydrodynamics, storm surge modelling and sediment transport. During her PhD study, she visited the University of Tokyo for one year, where she studied hydrodynamic processes in the Tokyo Bay. After she worked in Hohai University, she focused on the study of pollutants transport considering the absorption of sediment through both laboratory experiment and numerical modelling. During her stay in Prof. Philip Liu’s coastal group (about two years till August, 2019), she has been involved as one of the main investigators of joint project between National University of Singapore and Tsinghua University “The impact of climate changes on coastal flooding hazard in South and East China Seas”. She contributed to establishe the storm surge and flooding modelling framework for the South China Sea, she also participated in the 2017 post-Typhoon Hato survey and the 2018 post-Typhoon Mangkhut survey as team member and team leader, respectively.
