Biography

Dr. Asim Önder studied Mechanical Engineering at Istanbul Technical University and received his B.Sc. degree in 2006. He then joined the Master’s program in Computational Science and Engineering at Technical University of Munich (TUM) which he completed in 2009. He started afterwards his doctoral research on active control of turbulent jets at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Leuven (KU Leuven) and received his Ph.D. degree in 2014. He continued his research at KU Leuven as a postdoctoral fellow and investigated the large-scale structure of wind-farm boundary layers.

Since October 2015, Dr. Önder is working at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at NUS. His postdoctoral research at NUS primarily focuses on scale-resolved turbulence characteristics of coastal bottom boundary layers. Since February 2018, he is a member of Prof. Liu's NUS Coastal Group.
