Research Overview

My research examines second language writing and language teacher education, with a particular focus on how writers, teachers, and learners develop the knowledge, expertise, and literacies needed to participate effectively in academic and professional contexts. Situated at the intersection of second language acquisition, writing studies, genre-based pedagogy, and teacher education, my work brings together research on advanced academic literacy, written feedback, teacher expertise, and the pedagogical use of emerging technologies.

More recently, my research has increasingly focused on the role of generative artificial intelligence in second language writing and academic literacy. I investigate how AI-mediated writing practices are reshaping writing development, feedback, teacher expertise, and AI literacy, while also examining how responsible and pedagogically meaningful approaches to AI can be developed in language education. Across these strands, my work is guided by a central interest in understanding how writing and language education can respond to changing academic, professional, and technological landscapes.
