A doula is a trained professional who provides physical, emotional, and informational support during birth and/or postpartum. We don't provide medical care and are not licensed medical professionals, but we help you navigate your experience with evidence-based information, comfort measures, and non-judgmental support.
Birth doulas support you during labor and delivery. Postpartum doulas support you after the baby is born, helping with newborn care, feeding, recovery, and adjustment to life with a baby. I offer both!
Yes! A doula supports your partner too. We help partners know how to help you, take breaks when they need them, and feel confident in their role. Studies show that having a doula improves the experience for everyone.
Perfect! Doulas support all types of births. If you're having a C-section, I can help you prepare, be there during the surgery if allowed, and provide crucial support during recovery (which is often longer and more challenging than people expect).
I primarily serve families in Tucson, AZ. I'm based in northern Tucson, but travel throughout Pima County. For postpartum support, I come to your home. For birth support, I can come to your home, meet virtually, and attend your birth at your preferred location.
For birth doula services, as early as possible (ideally second trimester). For postpartum support, you can book anytime, even after the baby is born. I often have some availability for last-minute requests.
I'm on call for you starting at 37 weeks and remain available until you give birth, no matter when that happens.
Most families book 3-4 hour shifts, but I'm flexible. Some prefer longer stretches (6-8 hours) or overnight support. We'll figure out what works for you.
Life with a newborn is unpredictable, and I understand that plans change. My cancellation policy is designed to be fair while respecting everyone's time. If you need to cancel or reschedule with less than 24 hours notice, there is a cancellation fee of 50% of the scheduled visit fee. Cancellations or reschedules made 24 hours or more in advance have no fee. I know emergencies happen, and we can discuss your specific situation if needed. My goal is always to support you, not add stress.
Whatever you need! Every visit is different. Sometimes I hold the baby while you shower and eat. Sometimes we work on feeding challenges together. Sometimes I do laundry and dishes while you rest. Sometimes we just talk. You're in charge.
Absolutely. I can help with meals, play, and helping them adjust to the new baby.
I'm trained to recognize signs of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and I'll support you in getting connected with appropriate care. I can't provide therapy, but I can be part of your support team and help you find the right resources.
Yes! I have basic lactation education and can help with common challenges. If you need an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), I can refer you to excellent providers.
I support all feeding methods without judgment. Your feeding decisions are yours alone, and my job is to help you feel confident in whatever you choose.
Yes! Overnight support (usually 10pm-6am or similar) allows you to sleep while I care for your baby, bringing them to you for feeds if needed or handling bottles.
I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Some plans cover doula services, though it varies widely.
Yes. We can arrange a payment schedule that works for your budget.
Please talk to me. I offer sliding scale options for families with financial constraints. I believe everyone deserves support.
That's what the free consultation is for! We'll talk about your needs, my approach, and see if it feels right. Trust your gut.
That's completely normal. Most people don't know exactly what postpartum support looks like until they're in it. We can start with a basic plan and adjust as we go.
Yes! Text or email anytime with questions. I may not respond immediately, but I'll get back to you within 24-48 hours.
