MULTIDISCIPLINARY AND INTERDISCIPLINARY

Working in a multidisciplinary group can combine the expertise of my field with that of other fields and create a varied team. I believe that such combination can lead to creative and high impact research. It also leads to unusual scientific inventions, and a lot of great science has come from the robust interaction of researchers from different fields. Below are some examples of my involvement in both multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations;

I have been involved in public engagement and have presented my work to the public using posters and infographics, explaining my research to interested individuals. I also initiated quizzes to capture their attention and generate interest in my research.

I frequently involved in this university consortium's activities such as seminars, training, conferences, and as an invited speaker. It is a strategic partnership between 3 of the UK's leading research universities namely Leeds, Sheffield and York. My research work has several times appeared in this network's news (DTC Matters Issue No.11), (DTC Matters Issue No.13), (Exhibition), (Invited Speaker).

I was among 20-selected researcher to participate in Researchers' Cafe session during the YorNight European Researchers' Night. This is a session where public can meet experts from various fields such as biology, management, mathematics, physics, electronics, health sciences, archaeology, history, education and others in an informal and relaxed atmosphere to explore about the exciting new discoveries that researchers have been making. The greenSTEMS group received a GBP 2,000 grant and spent it for the public speaking training  with selected 20 sustainability-minded researchers from various departments (biology, chemistry, management, politics, environmental, computer, etc) and brought in Simon Watt (biologist, writer, science communicator and TV presenter), which leading to three public dialogue events. I was selected to join this project and represent The York Management School. Activities from this program were recorded here.

Worked closely with original records and preserved the original manuscripts of architects George Pace and Ron Sims. Under the guidance of Dr. Amanda Jones (Archivist), the tasks include sorting collections in preparation for detailed listing,  boxing work, basic listing work, digitization of original archive material and outreach work. Activities were recorded in a blog here
