Berenice Dolly was a key figure in Trinidad's healthcare, actively contributing through her work with the Ministry of Health, community service, and charitable endeavors, including founding the Chest of the Heart Association in 1940. Among her achievements, she co-founded and served as president of the Trinidad and Tobago Nursing Association, now the Trinidad and Tobago Registered Nurses Association. Her efforts earned her several honours, including the British Empire's OBE in 1962 and the Gold Public Service Medal of Merit from Trinidad and Tobago. Dolly had a significant impact on nursing practice by advocating for the regulation and registration of nurses, which led to the enactment of the Nurses’ Registration Ordinance in 1950, and she was instrumental in establishing the nursing college and council to oversee the profession.
