September 2023
8 Tough Mudders and counting!
Because who doesn't like waking up super early on a weekend, driving all the way to Black Diamond, and then running 10 miles with obstacles in the way? Even better, the event usually occurs in September, so half the time you get rained on while you're running. Not that it really matters when half the obstacles are filled with mud or water anyway.
I started running Tough Mudders when I was in high school because it sounded like fun. Over the years I continue to run them because of the challenge and the reminder to myself of what I'm able to accomplish. The event focuses not only on your own personal abilities, but also on teamwork as some of the obstacles can't be completed by yourself. Each event is grueling, and one of these years I'm going to actually start training more than a month in advance. But each year I'm able to make it all the way across the finish line. Although I'm exhausted and usually the rest of event day is generally spent being a slug around the house, I always feel good reflecting on what I accomplished.Â
