My name is Nuril Karimah Binti Ahadin, I am 24 years old and was born on 11th September 2001 in Muar, Johor. Currently, I live in Pasir Gudang, Johor. I recently completed my studies in Bachelor of Industrial Chemistry at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and am now waiting for my graduation. Before pursuing my degree at UTHM, I studied for two years at Johor Matriculation College (JMC).

As part of my academic journey, I successfully completed my internship at Airwastewater Management Sdn. Bhd. (AWWAM) from September 2024 until August 2025, where I gained valuable hands-on experience in environmental monitoring and chemical analysis.

I am the middle child in a family of three siblings and the only daughter. My eldest brother is 26 years old, while my youngest brother is 20 years old. My father sadly passed away on 9th November 2024, and my mother is a dedicated housewife.

In terms of personality, I consider myself an extrovert in real life, but more of an introvert on social media. I am easy-going, enjoy spending time in nature to relieve stress, and find peace in quiet surroundings. I also value being a good listener and giving motivation to others, which has taught me to be more grateful in many ways.

During my free time, I enjoy reading, singing, and listening to music, which help me to relax and recharge.

Research Project ( Final Year Project )

• The Cost Effectiveness Study of Dioxin and Furan Extraction Method

• Analyzed and compared USEPA methods 8290 and 1613 for aqueous and solid samples, evaluating their budgetary requirements and cost implications.

Analytical Testing and Laboratory Skills

Water & Effluent Testing:

• Performed alkalinity tests through acid–base titration and pH monitoring (APHA 2320B).

• Conducted ammoniacal nitrogen analysis using titration and UV–Vis spectrophotometry (Lambert–Beer Law).

• Used Spectroquant photometer and test kits for parameters such as COD, nitrate, phosphate, and ammonia.

Sample Digestion (USEPA 3050B):

• Assisted in acid digestion of wastewater and solid samples using concentrated acids (e.g., nitric, sulfuric) for heavy metals and nutrient analysis.

• Maintained safety protocols during heating and reagent handling.

Cyanide Analysis (APHA 4500 CN):

• Supported the setup and operation of a cyanide scrubber system.

• Prepared chemical dilutions (e.g., magnesium chloride, sulfuric acid) and monitored sample flow during analysis.

• Used UV–Vis spectrophotometry to determine cyanide concentration.

Training

• Completed in-house training for Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Act 2022 [ACT A1648] Awareness.

• Completed in-house course on Scheduled Waste Management and Handling.

Product Promoter – AWWAM (LabAsia 2025 Exhibition)

• Promoted AWWAM safety and emergency response products, including spill kits, first aid supplies, and HF antidote gel, to industry professionals and healthcare personnel.

• Applied sales and marketing strategies to engage with potential clients, explain product functions, and demonstrate proper usage in laboratory and industrial contexts.
