I am an associate professor of economics at Özyeğin University, School of Business in İstanbul. I also serve as a member of the board of directors at Türkiye Sınai Kalkınma Bankası (Industrial Development Bank of Türkiye). I hold a Ph.D. in economics from the University of  Minnesota; M.A. and B.A. in economics from Boğaziçi University. 

At Özyeğin, I've served as the chairperson for Department of Economics, vice director of the Graduate School of Business (GSB), academic director of MBA / Executive MBA Programs, and as a member in the Executive Board of the School of Business and the GSB. As chairperson, I oversaw an update of the undergraduate curriculum, led AACSB accreditation efforts and faculty hiring. As vice director of GSB, I led the MBA and Executive MBA programs, updated curricula, contributed to AACSB accreditation efforts, and started partnerships with the Harvard Business School.

I was on leave from Özyeğin between 2021 and 2023, conducting research sponsored by Grant 2219-B of the Scientific and Research Council of Türkiye and teaching macroeconomics courses at the University of Iowa's Tippie College of Business. Before joining Özyeğin, I taught at the University of Southern California and the University of Miami, worked as a consultant at the World Bank Group, Washington D.C., (within the Development Prospects Group's Global Macroeconomics Team), and as a visiting researcher at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) in Bonn.
