I spend some time and energy on activities aimed at promoting mathematics among young people. I believe deeply in the potential of mathematics for providing opportunities for intellectual growth and fulfilment, and fostering a sense of community among gifted students. I attempt to harness that potential mostly (but not only) through involvement in Olympiad activities.
This page contains some material I have created in the course of my outreach work. Most of it is written in Portuguese.
I collaborate extensively with the Olympiad community in Portugal, performing roles such as writing problems for the Portuguese Math Olympiad and working closely with Projeto Delfos on the preparation and selection of Portuguese teams at the IMO. Here are some resources I have created in this context.
(joint with Miguel Moreira) A collection of three handouts on Euclidean Geometry: Geometry for Beginners, Random Configurations and Brute Force.
Lecture notes for a semester-long informal course on p-adic numbers (and Local Fields more generally), taught in Spring 2021 to bachelor's and master's students at the University of Porto.
Lecture notes for a short introduction to Fourier methods in Arithmetic Combinatorics, taught in Spring 2023 at the University of Porto. The chapter on Sárközy's Theorem is incomplete.
