What is a research agenda?
When a research community is small with limited funding, such as in lower-middle income countries, there is a demand for efficiency in research. Governments or institutions have a list of health issues that they want to resolve through research but also limited resources.
A research agenda is developed to prioritize health research most important so resources are used for optimal impact.
Research agendas have been shown to
maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of research investments
strengthen health research systems
harmonize research priorities of multiple stakeholders
