Session 2: The Power of the Pause for the Children We Serve
Time: 6:30-8:00pm (Virtual)
As we prepare for Session #2,
Please review the Chapter - What is Resting For to prepare you for the Session #2 Task. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NJw83DKh73RaoF2N3Wo-ygzS7lfIte10Favlc-yr0Ss/edit?usp=sharing
Rather than rushing from one task to another, you might choose a moment to intentionally pause…
Your pause might come:
before replying to an email or text message;
before entering a meeting;
before responding to a friend, colleague, or loved one.
During that pause, simply ask yourself:
What does my body need right now… and notice what happens.
Your efforts and reflections contribute to Session #2, where we will be guided in conversation by Myrtle Sodhi, author and scholar, who will help us continue unpacking Hersey's invitation to see rest not as a luxury, but as a practice that reconnects us to our humanity.
We look forward to continuing this journey together.
Until then, may you remember one of Hersey's enduring reminders:
"Capitalism robbed you of your ability to just be. Rest is anything that slows you down enough to allow your body and mind to connect in the deepest way."
— Tricia Hersey
