Welcome back to a new year with Delta Kappa Gamma! As you know, we have our yearbook underway. Programs are set and we are ready for a couple of items:
1) Building up the membership of Nu Alpha by inviting interested educators to join us.
2) Helping with our newest project “Adopt-a-Teacher.”
3) Staying informed so you can respond to any need to serve.
The theme for this year is “Dare to Dream.” So, let’s see if we can make 2025-2026 a banner year for Nu Alpha.
Aspire to create positive change through collaboration, service, and leadership opportunities.
Cultivate growth of members and chapters.
Thrive together by fostering a sense of belonging and celebrating success.
Nu Alpha Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma expanded their Leander ISD Adopt-a-
Teacher project this year with the help of an ASTEF stipend of $1000. With an
additional $616.17 from chapter funds, Nu Alpha was able to give each of the 16
new-to-profession teachers approximately $100 worth of items from their Amazon
wish lists. Members of the special project committee, Dianne Hess and Dianna
Simons, ordered and delivered the items to the teachers in their classrooms in
October, November, and December. The group gifted teachers from 8 elementary
schools (two of these being Title 1 schools), 1 middle school, and 1 high school in
Leander ISD. Grades/subjects taught ranged from PreK, kindergarten, 1st grade,
2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4thgrade, 5th grade, bilingual and dual language, special
education, high school art, and high school computer science.
