Mission:
The mission of the Public Entity Investigative Genetic Genealogist Subcommittee is to promote robust, reliable, and ethical practice of Investigative Genetic Genealogy in the public sector in collaboration with subject matter experts across various fields including but not limited to forensic science, law, traditional genealogy, law enforcement, and bioethics.
Objective:
The subcommittee will promote recommended guidelines through publications by:
Establishing a working group for public entity investigative genetic genealogists
Recommending preferred qualifications for hiring in-house public entity investigative genetic genealogists
Developing model training plans and programs for in-house public entity investigative genetic genealogists
Creating recommendations for analyzing genetic genealogy data and working in direct-to-consumer genealogy databases
Setting quality guidelines for case records, documentation, record retention, reporting, and reviews of work products
Promoting continuous education for public entity investigative genetic genealogists
