EMI refers to learning programs offered in non-English speaking institutions where the delivery of content, teacher-student interaction, academic materials, and the presentations and assessment of learning achievement are 100% in English.
Q3. EMI courses are taught in full English, but must students also communicate, study, and submit assignments in English?
Yes, but under certain circumstances, such as group discussions, student interactions may use Chinese, but teachers should still ensure that up to 70% of classroom communication is in English.
Q4. How can students obtain information on all EMI courses offered by each department?
For course information, please refer to the NTUST course catalog system and select "English Program" in the "Other" section. The "Notes" section of the course is also marked with the word EMI.
Q5. Does the student transcript show that the course is an EMI course?
Yes. The EMI courses will be specified on the student's transcript. In the future, the percentage of EMI courses taken in the total number of credits for graduation will be marked, which is likely helpful for students to apply for school or employment after graduation.
