Biography:

Dr. Li’s research interests lie in the field of design and manufacturing with the focused areas on biomedical engineering (medical device development) and advanced & smart manufacturing. She has been conducting multidisciplinary research projects with many successful collaboration experiences with industrial and clinical partners. She has a deep understanding of tool-workpiece (ranging from metal, plastic, to bio-tissue) interaction mechanics and mechanical structural analysis. She is also experienced with the processes of medical product design and development including initial concept prototyping, manufacturability evaluation, performance testing and patentability/commercialization assessment. Beyond this, Dr. Li’s recent research themes extend to advanced and smart manufacturing, focusing on integrating advanced computer science technologies (computer vision, machine learning, etc.) into manufacturing processes to improve the product quality and achieve process sustainability.
