Our lab investigates the mechanisms and brain circuits in psychiatric disorders and their therapeutic potential, with a special interest for the cerebellum's role.
We are driven by a strong commitment to bridging the gap between clinical observations and translational applications, aiming to leverage neuroimaging-guided neuromodulation techniques to develop innovative therapeutic solutions along two axes:
Axis 1: Clinical and precision psychiatry aims to explore the neurobiological underpinnings of severe, treatment-resistant psychiatric disorders and schizophrenia in particular, using advanced neuroimaging and clinical assessments for deep phenotyping and patient stratification.
Axis 2: Translational & interventional psychiatry aims at translating findings into interventions, with a focus on neuroimaging-guided TMS to correct circuit abnormalities and improve clinical symptoms.

10.09.2026 - Indrit is Guest Editor, curating a special issue "The Cerebellum in Psychiatry: From Pathophysiology to Therapeutic Target", in Biological Psychiatry (IF = 10.3) with R.C.K. Chan, Hong Kong, and A. Giersch, Strasbourg). Approved September 2026; publication 2028.
01.09.2026 - ATHENA-II started! Our multicentre trial of connectivity-guided cerebellar TMS for motivation deficits in schizophrenia is now live in Geneva and Lausanne, funded by the Horten Health Foundation (4'000'000 CHF) with Indrit Bègue (HUG/UNIGE, principal investigator), Paul Klauser (CHUV), Mackenzie Mathis (EPFL) and Stefan Kaiser (HUG). Let's go!
15.01.2025 - Indrit obtained support from the Foundation Louis-Jeantet to support her work on cerebellar stimulation in schizophrenia (STARTER fund). Yay!
