Ming-Kang Tsai completed his high school education at the National Experimental High School at Hsinchu Science Park (NEHS) in 1993. In 1997, he received his bachelor degree from the Department of Applied Chemistry at National Chiao Tung University (now part of YMCU) in Hsinchu. From 2000 to 2005, he pursued his Ph.D. degree in Computational Chemistry at University of Pittsburgh (UPitt), USA.
Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Tsai conducted postdoctoral research at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), Richland, USA, from 2005 to 2007, and subsequently joined Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL), Upton, USA from 2007 to 2010.
In 2010, he established his independent research group in the Department of Chemistry at National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) in Taipei.
