A total of 12 finalists will be selected based on the video submission and announced here on the website.
A selection panel of university faculty from different disciplines will evaluate the video submission and make decisions based on "3MT Judging Criteria".

初賽評審委員會會一一瀏覽所有報名影片並根據"3MT Judging Criteria"個別審查並討論後選出12位決賽入圍者。

3MT stands for Three-Minute Thesis and every participant has exactly 3 minutes to introduce their research. Both the video submission and the final presentation follow this 3-minute rule (180 seconds). Your pitch can be less than 3 minutes but not more.

你可以只講兩分半鐘，但是不能超過三分鐘。請善用這180秒。

No, the final event requires physical presence at the scene.
不行，NTHU 3MT決賽必須現場參加，不能視訊也不能預錄影片。

The selected 12 finalists will be notified timely and have to confirm soon that they can attend the scheduled final event to secure their spots. If any of the selected finalists cannot make it to the final event in person, she or he would have to withdraw from the final competition. The NTHU 3MT team will continue to contact alternative candidates on the standby list until a total of 12 contestants have confirmed their attendances for the final event.    

一旦獲選入圍決賽會及時收到通知並確認能否於現場參與決賽，若無法現場參與必須棄權。NTHU 3MT主辦單位會依序聯絡初賽審查候補名單同學直到確保有12位決賽參賽者。

One static slide can be used in both video submission and the final event. No animation or sound is allowed. Once selected as the finalists, you can adjust and revise your slide for the final event.
可使用一張靜態投影片，作為影片投稿及決賽報告使用。投影片不得包含動畫或聲音。若入選決賽，參賽者可針對投影片進行調整與修改。

No, it doesn’t have to be the same slide. On the other hand, if you use the same research, you are free to do some moderate changes in the final event, as long as the presentation is restricted within 3 minutes. You may also modify the structure of your presentation during the Final.

初賽和決賽不是必須用同一張投影片。相反，如果你使用同一個研究，你可以在決賽時做適當的調整，只要演講的時間限制在3分鐘以內。你也可以在決賽當中調整你的演講脈絡和架構。

Yes, there are no nationality restrictions for participation in the competition. 

可以。參賽者不會受到任何國籍限制。

The finalists will arrive at the final venue an hour prior to the contest. They will draw lots to decide the order of their presentation.

決賽選手將於比賽前1小時到達比賽場地。選手將抽籤決定演講順序。

A total of 7 judges will score your presentation based on two criterias:

1. Comprehensive and Content (1-7 points); 

Presentation provided clear background and significance to the research question

Presentation clearly described the research strategy/design and the results/findings of the research

Presentation clearly described the conclusions, outcomes and impact of the research

2. Engagement and Communication (1-7 points);

The oration was delivered clearly, and the language was appropriate for a non-specialist audience

The PowerPoint slide was well-defined and enhanced the presentation

The presenter conveyed enthusiasm for their research and captured and maintained the audience’s attention

On a scale of 1 to 7, the judges will grade your presentation. We will sum up the grades from all 7 judges, and rank the contestants based on their total points. If there exist even points among the top three contestants, the judges will determine a ranking during the Judging Panel Discussion session.


決賽將會有七位評審將根據以下兩面相進行評分：

一、內容完整性與研究表現（1–7分）：

簡報清楚說明研究問題的背景與重要性

簡報清楚描述研究策略／設計，以及研究結果或發現

簡報清楚呈現研究結論、成果與其影響力

二、表達技巧與觀眾互動（1–7分）：

簡報口語表達清晰，語言適合非專業聽眾理解

PowerPoint 投影片設計良好，能有效輔助簡報內容

發表者對研究表現出熱情，並成功吸引並維持觀眾注意力

評審將依上述兩項標準，分別以1至7分進行評分。我們將彙總七位評審的總分，依總分高低排列名次。若前三名出現同分情況，將由評審團於討論會議中決定最終名次。

In the Final Event, the top 3 contestants will receive the WINNER, FIRST RUNNER-UP, and SECOND RUNNER-UP award, respectively.

The audience will vote for People’s Choice at the end of the competition.
在決賽中，前三名參賽者將分別獲得「冠軍（Winner）」、「亞軍（First Runner-up）」及「季軍（Second Runner-up）」獎項。比賽結束後，現場觀眾亦將投票選出「最佳人氣獎（People’s Choice Award）」
