This training will help you perform IAQ assessments, take samples and identify things that may not be able to be seen. IAQ surveyors, microscopes, borescopes and home monitors.

The 3-hour training will allow students to become familiar with the US EPA certified T640 and T640x PM Mass Monitors. Instrument setup will be discussed for new users. Theory of Operation for both versions of instruments will be reviewed. Key components and their functionality will be discussed. The menu structure will be included in this review which will focus on NumaView operation. The NumaView review will include navigating the software, alarms and alarm setup, and acceptable ranges for the key components. Maintenance which includes checking flow, and challenging the instrument with SpanDust to check overall instrument health will be presented. Common failures, pneumatic and electronic troubleshooting will be reviewed. Questions and answer time will also be included, with limited hands on, based on the class size.

During this training session, participants will first learn about the Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Centers (EJ TC TAC) program and NIHB and ITEP’s respective roles in the program. Topics include information about the large network of technical assistance centers, technical assistance services, program initiatives, and available funding opportunities. Then, the training session will shift to a grant writing training where participants will learn how to break down a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). There will be a focus on NOFOs related to air quality. Participants are encouraged to come with questions and/or an air quality grant they are looking to apply for.

The Tribes & Climate Change Program will offer a shortened version of their introductory course on climate change adaptation planning. This course emphasizes including youth and elders, and Traditional and Indigenous Knowledges in climate adaptation and mitigation planning. In addition, participants will learn about the Tribal Climate Adaptation Toolkit and the Status of Tribes and Climate Change (STACC) report which can be used in climate resilience efforts while keeping culture and language in mind. Tribal case studies will be offered as examples of the work being done nationwide.
