Civic Hall
Teachers and students (from years 5–8) will experience hands on development in building knowledge in the area of Photovoltaics, dealing with questions such as:
How do solar cells work
How many are needed for a solar car?
Why can't we put solar cells on top of our cars like we can on our houses?
They can use micro:bits and hobby solar panels to measure the effect of angles, shade and temperature on electricity production, or they can document their learning using an online document (Book Creator)
Timing to be advised
Note that we require participating schools to bring laptops with them for students (one laptop per 2 should be fine)—we'll provide everything else.
Does shade stop solar panels making electricty?
Does dust stop solar panels making electricty?
Which way should I point my solar panel to make the most electricity?
It is anticipated by the end of the workshop that attendees will be more confident planning and teaching Digital Technologies, and will share their plans and strategies with other participants via a collaborative space set up especially for these workshops.
