Assistant Professor, North South University
Dr. Zerina Shabnaz Akkas joined North South University in 2018 and holds a PhD in International Political Economy from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. Her academic interests span gender studies, rural empowerment, and South Asian socio-political history. She has published in internationally recognized journals and contributed opinion pieces to platforms such as the LSE blog and The Financial Express. At NSU, she teaches key courses on the history and cultural emergence of Bangladesh, encouraging students to explore the roots of identity, justice, and diversity in our society.
Serving as the Faculty Advisor for the North South University Ethics & Diversity Club, Dr. Zerina Shabnaz Akkas provides academic oversight, mentorship, and guidance to ensure the club’s initiatives align with NSU’s values of academic excellence, ethical conduct, and inclusive leadership. Her dedication to student development and ethical engagement is instrumental in shaping the direction of NSUEDC.
