Privacy Policy — What if CGPA Planner

Last updated: August 29, 2026

What if CGPA Planner ("the extension") is a browser extension built for North South University (NSU) students to analyze and simulate their CGPA directly on NSU's official RDS Grade History page. This policy explains what data the extension does — and does not — access, store, or share.

Information We Access

The extension activates only on rds3.northsouth.edu/students/grade_history. When active, it reads the grade table that is already rendered on that page in your own browser — course codes, titles, credits, grades, and your student ID as displayed on the page. It does not access any other page, any other website, or any other part of your NSU account.

The extension does not collect your login credentials, password, or any information from the login process. It only reads content already visible on the grade history page after you have logged in yourself.

Information We Store

If you use the "Edit Grades" or "Plan Ahead" features, the extension saves your hypothetical grade edits and planned future semesters using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data is:

Uninstalling the extension, or clearing your browser's site data, permanently deletes this stored information.

Information We Do NOT Collect

The extension does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or any third-party SDKs. It makes no network requests of any kind — there is no backend server for this extension, and none of your academic data, browsing activity, or personal information is ever sent off your device. We do not know how many people use this extension, what grades anyone has entered, or any other usage information, because nothing is reported back to us.

Data Sharing

Because no data leaves your device, there is nothing to share. We do not sell, rent, or disclose any user data to advertisers, analytics providers, or any other third party, for the simple reason that we never receive any such data in the first place.

Permissions

The extension requests only the storage permission (to save your what-if plan locally, as described above) and host access limited to the single NSU grade history URL (to read the grade table and display the analysis panel). It requests no other permissions.

Children's Privacy

This extension is intended for use by university students and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, regardless of age, since it collects no information at all beyond local, on-device storage.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted in this extension's GitHub repository and reflected in an updated "Last updated" date above.
